Basic Strumming Technique
Let’s face it, most of you are probably here to learn more about what makes Opal Ocean’s guitar playing so unique and the foundation of it lies within our strumming technique. It’s a technique that was adapted by Gabriela Quintero from Rodrigo y Gabriela, when they were busking in Ireland in the early 2000s. Sounds familiar? Well yes, we were also buskers in our early days and faced the same challenges as Rodrigo y Gabriela. We learned the technique and made it our own. It is a sort of classic Spanish rumba but with a more powerful approach where the guitar body is divided into areas to produce different drum-like tones.
